It's time to fly
Well, it's 2017 now, a brand new year. Happy New Year!
A little bit recap of my 2016.
- Langkawi trip with college buddies
- started and finished my internship in TNT Express Worldwide
- work as an official employee in TNT Express Worldwide
- traveled to Taiwan alone
- traveled to Bali, Indonesia with best friend
- went to Mayday Just Rock It concert in Malaysia (oh yea ✋)
- quit my job
Can't deny that 2016 was such a wonderful year for me, I've experience many new things that never tried before, especially the traveling alone part. And yea, will definitely do it again next time.
But looking at the past, I can't also deny that I've waste a lot of time as well. Daydreaming, surfing the Facebook, and even spent most of my time in office (I depart from home at 615am and usually reach home after 730pm), which lead me started to think "is that it?" "Is this the lifestyle I want for rest of my life?" "Is this the best I can do?" "Is it my dead end?"
.
.
.
HELL NO.
So in 2017, I decided to make a move. I want to throw away all my bad habits. I want to minimize all the time killer activities. I want continuous improvement. I want to be a better me. I want to be the best version of me!
To gain back the control for my own life, I'll need to be very clear on what am I trying to achieve, what is my progress to achieve it, and what should I do to achieve it. So I came out my own version of 2017 resolution - a short list of targets I would like to achieve in this year.
To make things simple and to be more focus, I've set few but not many targets for myself.
1. Get fit
People who know me well will know that I'm actually have a little tummy, thanks myself for that. To get into the best shape of my body, I'll need to commit myself to do a lot of exercise. To make it measurable, I'll would need to exercise at least 4 times in a week, each time at least 1 hour.
2. Learn something new
There're a lot of things I wish to learn, from dynamic activities such as badminton, Muay Thai, dancing, to static hobbies such as photography, guitar and arts. But there's only one me and I know that I can't be so greedy, so I decided to learn only one new skills in every year. Well, it's better than nothing isn't it. Btw, I'm still thinking which one to pick until now. I shall update in my blog once I made the decision.
3. Read 5 books
Well, I bought some books from Taiwan and borrowed some from my friend last year, but I only managed to finish one of them. Reading is one of the best things I discovered last year. I always listen from people that reading brings a lot of benefit, but if I never tried to read a book myself, I will never know that it can really open my mind and enrich myself. This year, I'll spend some time to read, weekend or even before bedtime.
4. Run 2 marathons
I always envy when my friends post in Facebook after they attend to a marathon event, while I was just sitting in front of my laptop scrolling my Facebook new feeds. So I decide to join 2 marathon in this year, which I think is measurable and achievable.
These 4 are the main resolution for me in year 2017. I will not be easy on myself if I really want to achieve the goals I've set. Because I know that I can't just stop here. My journey has just begun. After 23 years of procrastination, it's time for me to get serious for my life.
Am I ready for it?
Yes I am.
Let's fly.
